May is Here!
Hello everyone, and a wonderful welcome to my new subscribers!
May is here! In some temperate countries, spring has finally kicked in!
May is a beautiful month!
It is named after the Greek and Roman goddess Maia, mother of the Olympian god Hermes.
For Roman Catholics, May is the month of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
May is also Asian American Heritage Month and Jewish American Heritage Month.
May is also Haitian Heritage Month and Mental Health Awareness Month.
This month I have decided to honor and celebrate Asian American, Jewish American, and Haitian Heritage Month by writing articles about ancient goddesses from each culture.
These articles are:
Ayida-Weddo, loa of fertility, rainbows, and snakes
Asherah was an ancient Israelite, Phoenician, and Canaanite goddess of fertility, wife of the supreme god, lady of the sea, and mother goddess.
and lastly, but not least, Kichijten, the Japanese goddess of happiness, fertility, and beauty.

Fun facts: May was the third month of the year until the Romans moved it to the fifth month.
Maia was the goddess of fertility and growth and was often represented with a blossoming flower.
